Guest Mix: Psychic Heat

Last week we fell totally in love with Psychic Heat and today we welcome back Evan and Tanner for a Guest Mix to end all Guest Mixes. Below you'll find the reason why they chose each song and the playlist!

Tanner: My playlist theme is songs your friends think are stupid but are really the holy grail of music. The bess of the bess.

  • "Chattahoochee" - Alan Jackson : This is primo little Tanner in middle school jam. My boy Alan cruises around this track in ripped levis and a pair of skis...just absolutely slaying..and when you think it's over he revs that shit right back on up. This is my buddy Ben Hitz favorite song ever written.

  • "Kiss from a Rose" - Seal: From the most sensitive of Batman movies. If it was up to me, every song would have a 4 part Seal A Capella round. Some noteworthy moments in this video: 2:05 Batman boob grab. 2:56 Val Kilmer attempts the most dramatic head turn world record. 0:00 - 3:44 Seal's silk tshirt is blowing in the wind.

  • "Cool" - Gwen Stefani : Sammy B turned me onto this song on tour. It's legitimately amazing. I think he said one of the dudes from The Cars produced it. Gwen Stefani is outta control

  • "Linger" - The Cranberries : My pal Paige and I were cruising around the other day listening to The Cranberries and it totally hit me..Linger is a shoegaze song minus the loud fuzzy guitars! I make sure to sing this chorus at my coworkers once a day.

  • "Are You Gonna Go My Way" - Lenny Kravitz: Lenny Kravitz is the shit. I wish I wrote this little dragonfly of a riff. Father Son Holy Lenny

Evan : My playlist theme is a reaction to Tanner's: videos of new, inspiring music that have been released this year. I chose these to make myself look cooler than Tanner but in doing so I am paradoxically not as cool as Tanner.King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Gamma Knife https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC7ii3Ir-no Got the spins? This video does.

  • "Gamma Knife"  -King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard :  Got the spins? This video does.

  • "Your Friend" - Come Back From It : Local shout out! Taryn is doing some rad stuff and this song takes me to a different realm.

  • "Translate" - Suuns : Suuns loves making disorienting music videos and it works very well with their sound.

  • "Walk the One You Love" - Twin Peaks : Theses dudes have been hitting it hard the past few years and it's finally all coming together for them. They put on a killer show too. Cool single-shot vid!

  • Ty Segall & The Muggers - Full KEXP Performance : Ty changed my life when i saw him in Lawrence in 2010. He is constantly reinventing himself and every album is a slightly different concept. At first i wasn't too into his newest album, Emotional Mugger, but Tanner showed me this KEXP and now i super dig the direction. We are both very inspired by this right now.
