Gingerlys, a five piece indie rock group from Brooklyn, paint in vivid colors. “Turtledoves”, the debut single from their self-titled LP out November 17, is a kaleidoscopic jam radiating the same warm feelings that come with the end of summer. Complete with crystalline synths and fuzzy guitars, the track feels like an unearthed pop gem from decades ago. Vocalist Jackie Mendoza delivers her lines with a feverish urgency, her pristine melodies bursting with emotion. “Are you tempted by the colors, far away?” she asks, intoxicating the listener with sheer catchiness alone. Mendoza’s glimmering voice brings to mind the feeling of floating on top of clouds, gently nestling itself inside the glossy instrumental. The song sounds like it’s about to explode at any minute, blasting out of the speakers with a fervor unmatched by their peers.
