song: "Hounds" - Ellevator

song: "Hounds" - Ellevator

There's power in the music and message of "Hounds". The single, begins ever so softly; just a touch of whispered vocals and some soft guitar experimenting. It's a set of complimenting forces; the guitar a fuzzy, husky presence to vocalist Nabi Sue Bersche's clear soprano. And as time passes the track begins to find its footing and strength, a flourish of rising instrumentals and additional voices joining in. The sounds echoes the single's subject matter, its persistent pattern changes reinforcing the meaning of a track that came to Nabi Sue Bersche in dreams. "Hounds" is "an acknowledgement that we need each other to survive. There’s safety in numbers. We’ve seen how ‘every man for himself’ turns out, and we need to do better." And Ellevator manages to effortlessly encapsulate that ideal on this single. Nabi Sue Bersche dreamed of calling out for help as the hounds in her dreams chased her, and "Hounds" brings her cries to life, and leaves you feeling unsettled, but dazed...just like all your most memorable dreams.

The band's debut EP is out 4/20.
