For the announcement of their official return, Shy Boys give us something short, sweet, adorable, and oh, unforgettable. "Take the Doggie" is the band's newest single from their upcoming album Bell House out 8/3 on Polyvinyl Records. As the name of the track would obviously suggest this one is all about the doggies, and it's just about the best ode to man's best friend you'll ever hear. "Take the Doggie" requires a close ear, with the track incorporating continual change and surprises. The brisk guitar and drums that begin the song remain throughout, but begin to take shape and reveal new elements with the addition of vocals. The song of looking after a stray soon gains dueling, but complimentary vocals; the tale of planned great adventures with the new four-legged friend ending with those same instrumentals it started with. If this track doesn't inspire you to go pet every stray dog in the neighborhood...then I don't know what will. Now excuse me, I'm going to pet my own dog.
