Have you ever ridden a train? I mean, you probably have. But have you ever done it consistently for a few months or years at a time? Trains are actually a pretty cool form of transportation - you aren’t in control or driving, and you are (mostly) always moving since train traffic jams are pretty rare. I’ve spent a lot of times riding trains and listening to music while gazing out the window, which is exactly what the new Monster Bad video accurately portrays.
Not only is the song my favorite off the Monster Bad EP, which came out earlier this year on Funeral Sounds, it also perfectly shows what it’s like to ride a train, when you’re looking out the window but thinking about other scenarios in your head. The video shows a black and white train ride, with red animations glossed over the images. It’s the sort of thing you probably don’t realize you do - project your own fantasies over every day images, while listening to ambient music in the background. Or is that just me?
