There's much more to Calicoco's "Stay For A While" than the single initially lets on. For much of the song's beginning, a repetitious guitar and drum pattern backs Giana Caliolo's hushed introspection. We're permitted to follow along as she recounts what seems to be confessions, watching as she grows further removed from the cheery setting of a party. And while it's easy to believe that the song's moody beginnings are as far as the single will take us, Caliolo drastically shakes things up for the conclusion, and incorporates a a surprising burst of weight to her instrumentals. Piercing pleas for one to stay, even for just a moment longer, are repeated against roaring percussion and strings. You can feel the desperation in each passing second as "Stay For A While" draws to a haunting conclusion that knocks one back with its presence.
