Finding your place is never exactly easy and Soft Gondola approaches the uncertain with dreamy confidence. The Pittsburgh-based outfit tackles the expectations that others have placed on them in the video for "Where I Go", using breezy, beachy strings and persistent percussion to paint a narrative of freedom. Vocalist Daniella Trimble cuts through the noise of her bandmates with a husky, sweetened soprano; the track delivered as "an apology to my parents for not fulfilling the dreams they had for me, but it’s also a big middle finger to everyone’s expectations.” There's a definite romantic urgency to the track, as if Soft Gondola's desire to be what they want, no matter what anyone else think, is seemingly passed on to you. It perfectly captures how beautiful uncertainty can be.
The band is currently working on a full length due out later this year. You can catch them in Pittsburgh on 4/15 at Spirit with Shadow Year, Ghost Guts and the Dumplings.
