compilation: bridges - crafted sounds

Crafted Sounds is truly a special and unique label. Over the last few years, we’ve been so excited to work with them, and watch as they grow, releasing such a varied catalog. For their latest release, the label turned to Pittsburgh and created Bridges — a compilation that spans the city’s talent and comes to encompass just some of the many incredible acts that call Pittsburgh home. From the thunderous opening provided by Short Fictions’s newest single, “Prologue: Living in Places Like These Can Be Bad for Your Health (Can’t Live Here Anymore),” which also serves as takedown on gentrification to the dreamy, made for summer musings of Soft Gondola’s “The Bite,” the 21-track release is a perfect introduction to Crafted Sounds, and some of the Pittsburgh artists making music worthy of all of your support.

Conor Murray, who started CS, shared a bit about the compilation with us below, and you’ll find a streaming link, too. Proceeds from the release benefit Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania, so get your copy, please!

I think it is important for any small business or creative to have some sort of community to associate with on a personal level. For Crafted Sounds, home base is Pittsburgh. Beyond the label, I want to start my career here. I want to live here. Crafted Sounds was not supposed to make it this far, and I am thankful for everyone around me for being part of the past 3 years. At the very least, Bridges is a project that aims to highlight acts we have worked with in the past while also recognizing who is up next. Pittsburgh is a small-ish city. It has a rather small scene, but we roll deep. We make it happen. Bridges is me trying my best to signal to people inside and outside of Pittsburgh that there is something special happening here right now. I hope this is just the beginning of a really great time for music around here. I know we got the sauce. I think other people need to know that too.
