There's something about "Family Pet" from Family Pet that makes you instinctively think of 90s teen movies and bands performing during the penultimate dance scene. Maybe it's the fuzzy, blown out rock that gets going and never relents or the howls and promises to be "your family pet," but this single is one you can imagine soundtracking a sweeping view of the dance. It's fun, rapid, and unabashedly furious, spat out quickly and leaving a lasting impression. So maybe we're decades removed from some of the best films of our lifetime ("Drive Me Crazy, "10 Things I Hate About You"), but at least we have "Family Pet" to play loud and pretend we're back in high school.
