mp3: "Gentle Bender" - the Florists

Last week, the Florists released their insanely wonderful EP - No Costume. Jo Kellen of the band describes the 4-track collection as "covering a few of my experiences as a non-binary trans person. The songs are loud and try to capture a combination of anger, confusion, and glee." Single "Gentle Bender" is one such track, capturing a conviction of feeling with buzzing guitar, off-kilter and seemingly galactic instrumentals and howling vocal that cut straight to the heart. A refrain of desire and "waiting for the perfect time" stand at the center of it all - it's ferocious but sincere, inviting you into a Florists dance party where you can be yourself, throw your hands into the air and leave everything else behind.
