Time seems to always be passing too quickly and even when we get a moment to slow down everything around us continues to blur by. On Calgrove's "Hot" that intense feeling of pressure, of meeting deadlines, of always being on the run fades away. The single, coming from Wind Vane EP out 10/6 on Forged Artifacts and Gentle Reminder, is slow and honeyed, a gentle twang apparent in a sweeping slow dance of instrumentals that enrapture you with their warmth. Setting the stage with a strum of strings that serve as a pronouncement, the track then takes off, with weathered, worn vocals matching the mood of a track that's unhurried in its approach. There are times in the track when it all fades away and then rushes back together - pieces fitting perfectly together - from the twittering brush of strings to the steady beat of percussion. There's something about "Hot" that makes you want to pause, to stare out the window as you drive past colorful trees, to look up from your screen and ponder the world around you, to just feel.
