There are unique occasions when a piece of music is so personal and moving that any of my words seem insufficient. This proves especially true in "Weaks", the title track from Deathlist's upcoming EP out 10/6 on XRAY Records. We previously spoke with Deathlist aka Jenny Logan also of Summer Cannibals on our podcast, and in this initial interview we walked away knowing how special Logan truly was. On "Weaks" Logan further proves the urgency of her work in a track that's sparse, haunting and brimming with emotion. It's something you need to experience for yourself because this record is an important part of who Logan is. As she explains:
Weaks is a breakup record, and it's the first time I've tried to write really openly about my real and imagined flaws and relationship habits as a sexual abuse survivor. As a result it's a little hard for me to listen to but was something I really needed to make. It's more dealing with the aftermath of the abuse than the abuse itself. I began writing it in the fall/winter of 2016 after going through a breakup and finally starting to deal with and reflect on how my history impacts my relationships now.
