In 2014 Habibi released a self-titled debut that's still on heavy rotation here at TGE. The band has remained relatively quiet since then, releasing little in the way of new material, until now. Habibi has officially returned to making music with single "Nedayeh Bahar," the lead track from upcoming EP Cardamom Garden. On this first, long-awaited taste of new material the band incorporates the catchy pop sensibilities and breezy tropical strings that were hallmarks of their former Burger Records release, along with a musical influence from their family tree. One section of the track is spoken in Farsi, with the title of the song translating to "Song of Spring". It's a fitting identity for a track that feels romantic and measured, but also free and promising, just like the season it owes its name to. Vocalist Rahill Jamalifard invites one to take their hand, cautioning listeners against an unforeseen circumstance on their path. The dusty, fuzzy strings and unforgettable melodies combine in mesmerizing fashion, inviting listeners back to the beautiful world of Habibi.
