song: "Not An Exit" - Truth Club
Some days, as much as we may secretly hate to accept it, the inability to escape the hell that is life can really weigh on you. Not every moment is going to be one you want to remember, but you still have to go through it, and “Not An Exit” is a a musical acceptance of that.
The track from Truth Club’s forthcoming Tiny Engines release is one that initially presents itself as comfortable in going through the motions. The vocals of Travis Harrington sound unaffected, keeping a nonchalant, practically spoken pace as everything else falls to chaos. The gentle hum of bass guitar and a brief inclusion of distant meandering strings rise and fall, going from agitated and furious to gentle and comforting. And just before the track concludes, Truth Club gives it one final stomp, bursting forward with a finish that has every musical element coming at you with full force. It’s a monumental way to close, and when listened in full, it feels almost as if you’re spun about on the whirlwind that is going through the motions, and much like the arrival of morning, Truth Club leaves you right back where you started.
