song premiere: "Mope Around" - Wimps
On their newest single, "Mope Around," Wimps takes a moment to appreciate emotion. The track, which appears on the band's upcoming album Garbage People, is one that the band previously discussed with us, and at the time, Rachel Ratner shared how different the sound was for them. The "sweet" guitar-lead she spoke of is definitely apparent, bolstering a track with boogie, that somehow manages to turn feelings of sadness into a ripping revelry of encouragement. Beginning with the line, "There's a new dance called the mope around/You can do it anytime you're feeling down," the band continues to rattle off a number of things you can do when you're feeling a little blue, declaring, "Everyone's doing the Mope Around." The seriously catchy track continues winding its way through waves of fun, pattering percussion and energized guitar before all the instrumental elements meld together in a glorious finish.
