song premiere: "Mr. Mind Control" - Big Air
Over the past year, publications seemed to have lamented the death of rock and roll, declaring it over, and wondering where the genre has gone. It's a sentiment I have yet to get behind or fully understand and if someone out there is still searching for the answer then Big Air is the answer.
The LA-based outfit of one Rob Dobson and company will release their newest album Inner Facing, Outer Spacing through Forged Artifacts and Warhen Records on February 16th and "Mr. Mind Control" is more than able of convincing you that rock is alive, and kicking.
The single is a ferocious and fiery near 4-minutes, Dobson swallowing you whole in a world of twisting psychedelic instrumentals and bravado. The song builds to its bite with each passing second, taking on attitude and direction from Dobson's vocals that are seemingly piled with conviction and force. Energized guitar, teetering keys and blistering percussion all make for an all too brief tour-de-force of pure, unadulterated rock and roll.
