Breaking up is hard to do, especially when you've left behind an ex who just can't take a hint. For their latest single "Your Stupid Life," Sharkmuffin is reclaiming their life post-relationship, complete with a side of unexpected sweetness. The special bonus single may begin as a seemingly slow and romantic surf rock ballad, but as time ticks on, the band bites back, both with their lyrics and instrumental energy. Nearly halfway through the track, Sharkmuffin incorporates a serious dose of fuzz and guitar as they coyly plea for one to "go see a psychic or something like it/so you can move on with your stupid life/that's my advice, goodbye." Yeah, this one should definitely be added to your breakup mix.
As the band explained to TGE: “I heard that my ex thought that all the songs on our last record ‘Tsuki’ were about him (not true) so I decided to add one that was actually about him called ‘Your Stupid Life.’"
The track is a bonus single to be included on a rerelease of Tsuki out today on Little Dickman Records. Catch the band live at Brooklyn Bazaar on 7/13 (Brooklyn, NY) and Asbury Park Yacht Club (Asbury Park, NJ) on 7/14.
