song: "Rodeo" - Lisa Prank
After counting down the hours and memorizing every line of Adult Teen, Lisa Prank returns with “Rodeo,” the first single from Perfect Love Song, due out in October on Father/Daughter Records. Much like Lisa Prank’s (aka Robin Edward) previous material, this track takes a look at matters of the heart, except this time Edwards is left picking up the pieces of a lost love. Stacked to the brim with fuzz and the always woozy and delightful vocals of Edwards, “Rodeo” is an admission: “By now I know/this isn’t my first rodeo/By now I know/nobody wants to take it slow.” Joined by Bree McKenna and Tom Fitzgibbon, Edwards ditches her former backing band (a drum machine) to present a more fleshed out sound that still holds all the punch and fun of her previous releases. “Rodeo” manages to make heartbreak relatable and even somewhat fun. Sure, everyone else may be quick to seek out a relationship that leads to something fast, but “Rodeo” is an always welcome reminder that when it comes to love, you truly have to follow your heart.
