As easy breezy as the melodies and strings of "2 Cool 2 Care" may seem, the song from Anna Burch holds a much deeper, and poignant meaning.
In a video of summer-approved visuals, complete with jumping into a watering hole and hula hooping poolside, Burch sings of the indifference we've all faced at one point or another in a relationship. She tenderly reflects on the pitfalls of falling for someone that's "a mess" and how despite our best intentions to find a one true love, we can sometimes fall for the wrong one. In an email to Stereogum she explains how the mellowed-out down breakdown is meant to reflect the space in her own thoughts where can she dissect a relationship, a thinking that often results as the process of overanalyzing a relationship; something we're all prone to. It's a beautiful way of looking at what can be a bad love.
Her full length debut is expected next year on Polyvinyl.
