video: "Another Shot" - Pretty Matty
In what could easily double as a long lost episode of Pete and Pete, Pretty Matty announces their Get Better Records debut with the video for “Another Shot.” The single is the first to appear on a forthcoming GBR release, which is out on September 6th.
For the album announce, the band teamed up with director Jono Hunter to create what is essentially the world’s most adorable music video. The crunchy punk tune tackles the fallout that accompanies doing a bad thing, and in the case of this bad thing, Pretty Matty has forgotten pretty much everything on a to-do list in favor of skating. In a single swathed in fuzz and reverb, Pretty Matty packs a wallop of catchiness with a refrain of admittance: “I did a bad thing/Right from the start.” The all-too-short single wraps up with a buzzing dose of instrumentals, and while the adventure is oh so quick and sweet, “Another Short” memorably swarms about your head even after the final note plays out.
As Matty told TGE about the track, “Another Shot was the first song that I wrote for the record and I think it sort of set the direction of the rest of the songs. The song is about struggling to meet the expectations that you set for yourself. Making a plan and letting it fall apart, being unable to deal with confrontation etc. and the way that those things pile up and make it harder and harder to be the person that you want to be."
