video premiere: "Floating" - Drunken Palms

words: Delaney Motter

I believe it is a particular timelessness that makes atmospheric pop’s appeal translate from decade to decade. From gloomy 80s nu-wave pop, to droney 90s shoegaze-tinted pop, to the spacey bedroom pop of today; pop is just best with a touch of ambiance. Portland, Oregon’s Drunken Palms knows this, and have mastered the concept tenfold. Their long awaited first “official” release, Later, was put out last month in December of 2017, and comes after more than 2 years of nothing but demos and live recordings. We’re premiering their vintage inspirited video for “Floating” - a hauntingly heartbreaking yet iridescent, yearning, pop ballad. Watch below.
