video: "Without a Blush" - Hatchie
The music of Hatchie lends itself to an impossibly cinematic quality, as if you’re starring in your very own romance, and the world is dotted with hues of pink and unlimited potential. That trend continues on “Without a Blush,” the first single from the upcoming album Keepsake out in June on Double Double Whammy. With some kind of magic, Hatchie manages to bring to life that sparkly-eyed feeling that accompanies the second guessing and questioning that comes with falling for someone new. Filled with lush, sparkling keys, rushes of joyful percussion, and Hariette Pillbeam’s soaring vocals, “Without a Blush” fills your entire heart with happiness. The song never brings us any answer to Pillbeam’s questioning of “If I could kiss you one more time/would it make everything alright/or would it just make me a liar,” but sometimes, the best questions are left unanswered, open to your own meaning.
