song: "One Word AK" - gay meat

Aside from his time as resident Twitter heartthrob and viral sensation among the teens, Karl Kuehn makes seriously great music, and after working with Museum Mouth, he’s pursuing a solo project — gay meat. “One Word AK” is the delightful lead single, and if you’re currently staring at your phone waiting for a reply, or literally any sign of life from the one you’re crushing on, this is the track for you.

Unlike his previous work, “One Word AK” is subtle and sweet, and has the artist using mainly guitar — ranging in presence from fuzzy and experimental to adorably poppy — a touch of piano, and some drum machine. Reflecting on the actions of a “one word answer king,” Kuehn’s tender vocals ring out with the slightest hint of emotion, sharing a crafty lyrical tale (“watch me roll on the ground/ break my spine hear the sound/of it crack straight in half/ under the weight of what I dream is your calf”) of the emotional torture that comes with falling for someone.

This is a softer side of Kuehn that longtime listeners have never heard before, and for those new to the artist, it’s an endearing, wonderful first glimpse that’s likely to leave many feeling charmed, or at the very least, understood by the fact that literally everyone you end up loving is terrible at texting.
