On Friday, the incredible duo of Misty Coast (Linn Frøkedal and Richard Myklebust) will release their self-titled debut on Old Flame Records. The album feels like one final grasp at the summer that's nearly departing the East Coast, their dreamy and shimmering psych-pop sweeping you into the feelings of unlimited possibilities evoked by endless, warm nights. It's a trip from start to finish, submerging you in sounds that are beautiful, but harsh, fuzzy, but gorgeous. The contrast in sounds and ideals is owed in part to their Bergen, Norway locale, where the pair is inspired by their widespread western climate. The band seeks to challenge the "less-is-more" principle and its evident in an album of ever changing instrumentals and surprises. It's described as pop music on acid, with one foot on the pedal board and the other one placed steady on the ground. The result is a strange and poignant escapism. Take the trip for yourself and press play below.
