I've spent much of my adult life idolizing the Dum Dum Girls and each of their various side projects. So it's with crazy heart eyes that I'm excited to see Kristin Welchez, known as her DDG moniker Dee Dee Penny, pursue a new solo endeavor of her own. This isn't her first new artistic pursuit, but it is the latest and it's also a really cool contrast to what fans of her work in DDG are used to hearing. "X-Communicate" is the first single, and it's a serious spoonful of sugar-coated pop. Counseled by Karen O. the album is meant as a true expression of herself, one that ditches the persona of Dee Dee for Kristin Kontrol. You can read more about the project here, but I'd suggest allowing a few moments to groove along to this track first.
