As unofficial PONY-stans we're increasingly excited with each new release from the band and newest single "Small Things" does not disappoint. In typical PONY fashion, the band continues to make some of the catchiest, most memorable beams of garage pop. The single comes from a 10/27 EP release titled do you and turns the abysmal darkness of loneliness and wishing for someone, anyone to be there to song.
If you've ever had a second or even a day where "small things" continue to swirl about in your brain and leave you feeling uneasy, this song will provide an immediate feeling of connection. Vocalist Sam Bielanski cuts through the fuzzy and sharp instruments of her bandmates to deliver a sweet, sugary plea - "I am afraid of all my emotion/you look so cute pretending not to care/I don't want you/I just want somebody there." It's fitting the track is inspired by a bingewatch session of Buffy as the entire single comes crashing with the glistening sheen of 90s rock. It's something you'd imagine Lindsay Lohan's fake band tearing through on Freaky Friday or Josie and the Pussycats taking the stage with to break everyone's hearts. In short, it's perfect.
