The music of Emily Reo has always felt otherworldly. There's a quality about it that transports you straight into fairytales or just daydreams of hanging with Princess Bubblegum in the Candy Kingdom. It seems appropriate then that her latest release is titled "Spell," as the playful vocals and dreamy electronics, make for a completely bewitching song. The track is the A-side to an upcoming 10" out through Orchid Tapes. Lasting a little more than 6 minutes, the song ebbs and flows, gathering instrumentations, adding twinkling stars to its sky as Reo's mantra of an inability to feel anything plays out. It reflects a much deeper battle with mental health, which you can read over at Rookie.
