song: "Limerence" - PONY

With each release, PONY presents a new side to their identity, and on “Limerence,” the band sounds as powerful and raw as ever. In a track of pleading, vocalist Sam Bielanski sings out of their insecurity, anxiety, and those worries that come with falling for someone and hoping they feel the same. While much of the track has Bielanski’s syrupy vocals and fuzzy instrumentals twirled together in a tightly wound haze, in its final moments that all is stripped away for a spoken interlude. There’s still some element of the surf rock-inspired sound that PONY once relied on, but there’s also an edginess here, and an inkling of something much larger awaiting listeners on the other side. This is one act to pay attention to, because it’s clear that PONY hasn’t finished growing yet.
