Literal favorite band and outstanding podcast guest Izzy True has returned with their first dose of new music since 2016's Nope. The single "SadBad" is the title track from an upcoming Don Giovanni release out August 8. It's an painstakingly honest and endearing glimpse of the awful feelings that can accompany loss, heartbreak, and just living life. Vocalist Isabel Reidy once again totally shines on this track, their off-kilter and warming presence carefully navigating and sidestepping a soft twang of guitar and gentle drums. At times, it feels as if Reidy is just speaking out loud, their thoughts hanging above as they reflect on emotions of timing, feeling out of place during a party, and the reckoning that one simply can no longer stay. Sometimes it's just nice to have a reminder that you're not the only struggling — this song is it.
