Welcome to The Beat, a new TGE feature where our fave artists/bands/people give us tips on makeup! The most feature to ever me! Today we welcome Kathy of GIRL K.

Playing gigs with a full face of makeup can get really messy. You usually have to wear your look for several hours and get sweaty and begin to look less and less like you did initially. That’s why I usually just go with vibrant eye looks, and highlight.

To make sure your eyeshadow stays intact, I would recommend using an eyeshadow primer. I think it helps avoid fallout, and makes the colors pop easier without having to dig into your palette too much. This Milani one was relatively cheap, and works as well as some of the more expensive brands.

I recently bought this colorful eyeshadow palette from NYX, and I think the colors are very vibrant and are very easy to blend. It also has a better color selection than most color heavy palettes.

To make my looks more interesting I like to blend out some eyeshadow on the other parts of my eye, not putting too much on the lid, and then taking concealer and putting it in the center. I used Maybelline's Fit Me concealer, it doesn’t have too much of a shade range, but it’s really cheap and the applicator makes it easy to just dab on. I then use my finger to pat it onto the entire eyelid.

After that, I’ll put a glitter eyeshadow on. The concealer helps the glitter pop out more and creates a nice lil contrast between the plain shadows. I think any shimmery shadow will work as long as you’ve got the concealer underneath.
And if you still feel like you’re missing something, I would recommend putting on a moisturizer that also has a shimmer to it. It makes your skin look healthier and won’t sweat off, as it absorbs into your skin. I really like Glam Glow’s Illuminating moisturizer. They’re skin products are really nice, and it applies almost like a light highlight.

After that you can choose to pop on some highlight and you’re good to go. This usually takes me about 10-15 minutes, which is ideal if you’re about to play and haven’t had time to really get ready, or if you’re on tour and need to do something in the car real quick. (Especially cause you can do this all with your fingers, but just be sanitary)!

Here’s a look I did for a photo shoot that only took me 10 minutes to do!
