the beat: Remember Sports

Welcome to The Beat, a new TGE feature where our fave artists/bands/people give us tips on makeup! The most feature to ever me! Today we welcome Carmen of Remember Sports.

I’m on a month and a half long tour right now! My morning and night time routines are really important to me when I’m at home so I do my best to recreate a simplified version of them when I’m on tour. I never end up using half the things I bring (see the Glossier Lashslick and Cloud Paints I have yet to touch) so I’m trying to get better at packing. I got this toiletries case from Muji with lots of great pockets and compartments and I try to limit myself to just this.

It’s winter time and I have pretty bad eczema and dry skin all over my body so the most important thing for my skin is making sure I moisturize and drink lots of water. I rinse my face with water when I wake up then use Cerave and some kind of oil on top (on this tour I brought Rosehip oil and Marula oil from the Ordinary and have been switching them out). I let that dry for a bit then I put sunscreen on! Since I’m focusing on getting as much moisture as possible right now, I’ve been using this La Roche Posay moisturizer with SPF 30 that I got at CVS.

For makeup, I use Glossier Boy Brow every day! There’s no point in me wearing anything else during the day because I’m just sitting in the car for hours. I don’t wear a whole lot of makeup when I play but using SOMETHING helps make me feel a little fancy and special! Usually the amount of makeup I put on before a show depends on if there’s a green room and also a mirror. There usually isn’t both!

I always use some sort of blush, my favorite is the Make Beauty Universal Stick in Bisou Bisou. I like putting a little on my lips too, but I don’t like to do lipstick when I play because it just ends up getting all over the mic which seems rude to do. The Glossier Haloscope in Topaz is my go-to highlighter because it looks natural and it’s really easy to use. I put it on my cheekbones and my eyelids. Then if I want to level up I’ll use Marc Jacobs eyeliner in Sunset. I also keep two ColourPop eyeshadows (Glassbull and Backstage) in my bag if I’m feeling TRULY wild, but it hasn’t happened on this tour... yet ;). I use this rosewater and glycerin spray before and after I put on makeup because it smells good and they’re always spraying stuff on their faces on YouTube.

I keep things simple because I don’t want to have to work too hard to take it off at night when all I want to do is fall asleep. If I wear makeup I’ll take it off with a little of the aforementioned oils, rinse that off, then wash my face with my beloved Cerave hydrating cleanser. I’ll put on more moisturizer and oil before bed, or if I’m having an eczema emergency I will use my medicated ointment.
