Makeup is pretty dang important to me. The application process is basically my meditation and it is one of my creative outlets. In celebration of makeup, I’ll tell y’all about my staple makeup products, makeup for the stage, and what I bring on the road with me.

Makeup Staples:

Jet black eyeliner - Any eyeliner pretty much works for me as long as it is black and a liquid liner. I find pencil liners aren’t as pigmented on my skin and it is difficult to do a wing with.

Mascara- I have the smallest lashes ever, so I have pretty much used the same mascara since high school because I know it works for me. It is Maybelline’s Great Lash in the Lots of Lashes style. The brush has these little combs that grabs all of my lashes.

Eye shadow primer - Primer from e.l.f

Eye shadow - Within the last couple of years, I really got into eyeshadow. The pallete I like using now is the Jaclyn Hill palette from Morphe. It’s affordable and there are tons of shades. I don’t know why, but I stick to red shades.

Eyebrow pencil - I fill in my brows most of the time. My favorite now is the Micro Brow Pencil from NYX.

Skin Primer - I just use a hydrating primer from e.l.f

Foundation - My favorite foundation brand is always changing. Right now I am using Pro Filter shade 430 from Fenty. When Rihanna launched her Fenty Beauty line, she 40 shades of foundation. This was a game changer because lots of makeup lines were not as inclusive. I knew I had to get my hands on her foundation because I always had problems picking out the perfect shade for me.

Setting powder - The powder I’m currently using is from CoverGirl. It is inexpensive an it works as well as higher-end products.

Concealers - Fenty has a trio for concealing, highlighting, and contouring so I those in the shade Deep 400.

Highlighter - I have a ton of highlighters. I just have to make sure the ones I buy are a warmer color because the lighter ones tend to make my skin look dry. The highlighter that I’m currently using is from Fenty. It is a highlighter stick in the shade cinnamon.

Stage:

When I am performing, I try to go all out and put as much glitter and highlight as I can because it’s fun. I also opt in for false lashes because they’re fun.

Road:

If my band is on the road, I pack light because I rarely find time to apply makeup. I usually just bring my foundation, eyeliner, mascaras, and something for my brows

Here’s a mix from Trish to play while you perfect this look:
