video premiere: "Omens" - Joni

One of the best parts about finding a new piece of music is discovering where an artist or band will transport you with their work. Whether you want to escape the doldrums of the office or the chaos of an unexpected moment of stress, "Omens" from Joni provides a much needed escape to a place we can only daydream of. The single, recently released by the singer, gets an entrancing video treatment; with Joni twirling through oceanside wonderlands, much like the ones that the song brings to mind when you listen. It's a dose of bright and dazzling, fuzzy pop with Joni's whispered vocals gliding above  the accompanying instrumentals with a dreamy sweetness. The Omens music video was filmed over a weekend in Montaña de Oro State Park with one of my frequent collaborators, Director/DP Kristina Carucci. We took visual inspiration from things like the Godard film Pierrot le Fou, found images of mafia funerals, and religious imagery. We were drawn to things that were beautiful but dark to help tell the story of the song.
