song: "Unrelatable Content" — babygotbacktalk

babygotbacktalk follows up their previously released single, “Back to Before,” with "Unrelatable Content,” a furious four minutes that’s charged with a message of deep significance.

This is pop punk at its most energized, the band tearing through a declaration to focus their sights on a battle more meaningful than “waging war on another self-absorbed.” Brimming with confidence and electricity from its outset, “Unrelatable Content” only adds to its whirlwind message with each passing second, bringing in a burst of violin, a breakdown that puts every element of strings on full display, and a fuzzy finale that leaves one totally in awe. Simply put, it’s one helluva ride.

As the band explained of the single, “‘Decolonize pop punk' is more than just a slogan on our merch.

For us, it’s about confronting the regressive elements of our scene and addressing the problems at their roots, in song and in person. To that end, our new single, Unrelatable Content, is about aspiring to introspection that isn’t indulgent, sensitivity that isn’t self-serving. The reference to a certain sadboi touchstone in the artwork is our way of raising provocative questions about emo as a tradition even as we add our own spin to the pantheon."
