The Grey Estates: What role does doing your hair and makeup play in both your performances and identity as a group?
Mirrorgloss: Hair and makeup is a huge part of our personalities in general. Putting a look together can really tell a story and Mirrorgloss has lived so many stories, as well as Del and I (Najamoniq) have as best friends. Our esthetic is our trademark, it’s part of our identity and it relates so much to what we are doing and the message we want to send out. We love being pretty plus size babes and we want to inspire everyone to find their style and celebrate it.
What are some of your favorite products, both when you're living life as a musician and then when you're off stage?
Del : For my curly hair — Eco styler gel. It’s cheap and it keep those baby hairs slick. For my skin type, Clarins Double Serum — it keeps my skin firm and hydrated — which is important while under those stage and photo lights.
Najamoniq: For my curly hair I love Loma’s Curvy Creme. It’s light for my fine hair and it has a lil casing that holds my curls in place without the crispy effect. For my curly weaves and wigs, I love Transformer by Labiostheique. It is moisturizing and light but keeps my curls in check with little to no build up. For my skin, I use Thayers no alcohol witch hazel rose water toner. You get a large amount for the price and it helps with the moisture and balance of my skin
Del does your makeups for the photoshoots and videos. Is there one look or video that you really loved how it came together?
We love the looks from the “I Feel Free" video. We felt that the bright colors and strong patterns matched nicely with the fun make up looks that Del designed
If Mirrorgloss was to create its own beauty product, what product would it be? Give us a name and some details.
LIPGLOSS. We did a small batch design with the up and coming company Pepper Pot a couple of years ago as merch. We would love to elaborate on that in the near future and we want to do a scented shimmering body oil. We love moisturized dewy skin, and of course, we want everyone to #stayglossy
What's the #1 must-have product that our readers should try?
Del: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel
Najamoniq: KVD setting spray. It is magic and helps save on the cost of makeup because you barely have to reapply.
