song: "Caroline" - Christy Jean

song: "Caroline" - Christy Jean

Our memories can seem so fleeting and our times spent in places unfamiliar can pass by in an instant. And despite how life continues on in a mad, ceaseless whirlwind of new adventures and unexpected challenges, the places and things we admire the most stick with us, their imagery forever burned into our thoughts.

"Caroline" is an ode to a place so familiar to singer Christy Jean. It's a romantic and stunningly subtle ballad to her home of her North Carolina and the impression that it's left on her in sleep and in waking. Joined by Heather McEntire (H.C. McEntire) for the track, "Caroline" becomes a tangible thought of a "muddy bride," a place more than familiar to these two singers, but perhaps unknown to their listeners. For two and half minutes we're allowed to peer into Jean's subconscious and understand just a fraction of what she's come to love about the place she calls home.

The single is the second in her Winter Project series and premiered earlier on Hullabaloo. You can catch Jean live with McEntire today in Durham AND you may also be able to grab a limited edition physical version of her project put out by Future Oak. A third single is due out in March.
