song: "Slouch" - Nectar

The latest single from Nectar's upcoming album (Knocking at the Door out 4/20) is a reckless, riotous celebration of the one moment we've all experienced — crying in public. In just under two minutes the band tears through an ode to suppressing your emotions when surrounded by the company of others. "Slouch" begins with just a guitar and a confession: "I can’t stop crying, even in the most public place/When the feeling hits I feel it down my face." What starts out as quiet acoustics then transforms; a storm of guitar and drums come rushing past as the band explores the act of curling up their body and letting the tears fall. In its final heightened notes the single ends with an all too relatable sentiment: "I had to put myself first, but I forgot." "Slouch" is a quick, albeit memorable single that emboldens listeners with the courage needed to embrace their emotions, even the ones that cause you to "Slouch" in public.
