In what’s truly the cutest video you’ll ever lay eyes on, Scratchy Blanket debuts “On Top,” the first single from the band’s forthcoming debut album. Incredibly excellent visuals of the story behind the band’s formation aside, “On Top” is a deeply encouraging single, providing an always welcome reminder that it’s totally OK not to feel OK.
There’s an obvious and gorgeous strength to the single, with vocalist Shannon Keating powerfully proclaiming, “Sometimes you’re not on top.” Joined by Chloe Hodgkins (guitar + vox), Zach Dowdell (drums), Harrison Thurman (guitar), Marcus Morales (bass), and Stevie Knipe on backing vocals, the band touches on the importance of turning to true friends in moments when you’re at your weakest. It’s a stirring ode to the fact that yes, everyone will experience hardships, and sometimes the only thing you can do in these moments is rely on your bed and a pal.
